In 2015 I decided, together with two colleagues, to start Kwint, a law firm specialised in labour law and social security. The choice was no coincidence. I started my career 15 years ago in a reputable firm, where I applied myself from the start to individual and collective labour law.

Today I counsel multinationals as well as Belgian SMEs (small and medium-sized enterprises) in all legal aspects of their personnel management. Dismissal cases naturally constitute an important aspect of my practice, but I also help employers with all their questions concerning labour agreements, working hours, remuneration policy, privacy, discrimination, protected employees, trade union relations and well-being at work. I have counselled companies during restructuring processes, and have frequently conducted negotiations with the trade unions.

My fascination with labour law goes back to my university studies. I therefore decided to obtain a postgraduate degree in social law at the ULB. After my studies I immediately started as a lawyer at the bar of Brussels in the area of social law in the firm Loeff Claeys Verbeke. From 2002 onwards I continued my career as a lawyer in the firm Claeys & Engels in Ghent.

After 20 years' experience in well-established firms I find the time has come to start my own firm in social law. I found excellent partners in Maarten and Vincent, both of them dedicated lawyers and fine colleagues.

I take a special interest in individual and collective dismissal law. I counsel businesses in finding the most appropriate solution to take leave of their employees resulting from individual dismissal, the end of a career or a reorganisation. In addition I am also active in other domains of social law such as protected employees, drawing up collective bargaining agreements, negotiations with trade unions, competition and strikes.

I have been active as a lawyer specialised in social law since 2003. After my apprenticeship in the firm Van Eeckhoutte-Taquet-Clesse I worked in the firm Claeys & Engels for some ten years.

Within the broad domain of social law I take a special interest in social security disputes, problems of fake self-employment, social inspections, social penal law, working with foreign sub-contractors, … Over the years I have built up extensive practical experience, I regularly gave seminars and have written several articles on various issues in this area.

I strongly believe in the crucial role of a specialised lawyer as advisor and strategic counsellor of clients, preferably preceding the rise of conflicts. For this reason I attach great value to building a long-term relation of trust with my clients.

I developed a taste for social law in the course of my studies at Ghent university. After graduating I therefore decided to specialize in this area and obtained a Master's degree in social law at the university of Brussels (ULB). I started my career as a lawyer at the law firm Claeys & Engels in Ghent in September 2012. After my traineeship at the bar, I decided to join the recently founded law firm Kwint.

I have been active in various fields of social law. I have experience in individual and collective dismissal cases and have given advice to clients on a range of topics related to human resources within the company, such as recruitment, end-of-career solutions, working time, compensation & benefits, competition, strikes, false self-employment, protected employees, well-being at work, collective labour relations, and social elections.

In October 2016, I joined Kwint and made the changeover from the Brussels Bar to the Ghent Bar.

I obtained my Master in Law at the Ghent University in 2014 and graduated with a thesis on the social security position of truck drivers. During my studies, I also attended courses at the Bond University in Queensland, Australia, and at the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität in Munich, Germany.

Since then, I am active in all aspects of social law, both through rendering advice and conducting legal proceedings. I have a particular preference for cross-border employment and the social status of expats.

Florence Cordonnier

Since 2010, I am active as a lawyer specialised in social law. After obtaining my Master in Law at the KU Leuven in 2009 and a LL.M at King’s College in London in 2010, I started my career as a lawyer. From the very beginning, I have been concentrating on social law, firstly in a specialised firm and later in an international full-service firm. In 2017, I decided to join the growing niche firm Kwint.

I am active in various branches of labour law. Clients can contact me with questions on the concrete approach of individual labour disputes as well as on collective labour relationships and restructurings. In this context, I have assisted and advised in the past HR departments of clients on-site. Finally, I have a particular interest in the field of well-being at work.

Jasmien Vandersype

Jasmien Van der Sype will start working as a lawyer at Kwint on 1 October 2017. She obtained her law degree at the Ghent University (UGent) and attended an Advanced Master in social law at the University of Brussels (ULB).
